Observação do desenho de uma criança em tempos de pandemia

Reflections with theoretical-conceptual basis and scientific evidence have been presented on the impacts of the COVID- 19 pandemic on children. Studies on this topic are preliminary and scarce. An approach that has been adopted to investigate how children react in adverse environments, in the face of catastrophic and stressful situations, is children’s drawing. In Waldorf Pedagogy, there is a search to understand children’s drawing, using Anthroposophy as a reference. This article aimed to observe a child’s drawings during the first semester of the school year, which was compromised by social distance, raising reflections under the anthroposophycal point of view, on the potential effects of this pandemic on child development. With the consent of the family, 15 drawings were observed, in which the same elements were repeated frequently, with little variation in details. In the drawings the child uses the same theme only modifying the central element. In two situations, where there was an environmental change, that the theme of the drawings changed. It is noticed that the child has lost his external references and his inner organization needed to be reframed. The drawings can be considered representative of the effects of social isolation on the lives of Brazilian children. Contact with other people, with nature, and daily rhythm are fundamental aspects for children´s subjective well-being and their integrative health.. It is essential that families, schools and teachers alike are attentive to the manifestations that children will bring in their drawings as well as in their behaviors after the Pandemic.
