Sexual education based on Anthroposophy

Abstract

Sex Education is an increasingly present and necessary subject, both for parents and for schools. The current social con-text brings new challenges every day, with permanent exposure to hyper sexualized, pornified and materialistic content. A healthy Sex Education should be the objective of every educator, seeking balance for all areas of the human being: physical, mental and spiritual. Especially in Waldorf schools, this theme must be deeply grounded in Anthroposophy. Anthroposophic Anthropology and the study of what Rudolf Steiner said about human sexuality provides the necessary tools to deal with this subject within Waldorf Education. Through a bibliographical review and discussion, the present work seeks to contextua-lize the teaching of human sexuality in Waldorf schools, covering the first three seven years, and bring reflections and subsidies to help families to deal with the theme at home and teachers to work on the subject supported deeply into Anthroposophy. It is clear that the challenge is immense, but possible to be approached in a complete and judicious way with full support in Anthroposophy, bringing light and clarification to this theme, as delicate as necessary, which presents itself as a huge obstacle to be overcome in modern pedagogical practice.
